SAKARYA GAS FIELD DEVELOPMENT PHASE-2A FPU IN TURKEY TO FEATURE AMPO’S HIGH-PRESSURE METAL SEATED BALL VALVES

AMPO POYAM VALVES has been selected to supply over 110 high-pressure metal seated ball valves for the Sakarya Gas Field Development Phase-2A FPU (Floating Production Unit), one of Turkey’s most strategic energy projects led by the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). The engineering contractor for the project is Global Offshore Engineering (GOE).

The Sakarya gas field, formerly known as the Tuna discovery, is located in Block 3921 in the Western Black Sea, approximately 185 km north of Zonguldak, Turkey. The FPU, currently undergoing a year-long modification phase at the Canakkale shipyard on the Dardanelles Strait, is expected to move to Filyos in Q3 2025 for final module installation and commissioning. First gas production is targeted for Q3 2026.

As part of this strategic development, AMPO POYAM VALVES will deliver more than 110 high-pressure metal seated on-off ball valves with pneumatic actuators in 2025 and 2026. These valves, ranging from 2” to 20” and rated up to 2500#, including some with compact flanges, will be installed on the modified FPU to manage critical high-pressure services. All valves will be DNV certified and will undergo high-pressure testing with actuators to ensure optimal performance under the most demanding upstream conditions. Throughout the process, AMPO POYAM VALVES has worked closely with GOE, providing technical support and helping define the most suitable valve types and materials for the specific requirements of the offshore project.

The selection of AMPO POYAM VALVES for this project was significantly influenced by the successful performance of its valves in the Barossa FPSO project, reinforcing AMPO’s position as a trusted global partner for complex offshore applications. This new milestone once again highlights AMPO POYAM VALVES’ expertise in highly engineered valve solutions for the most severe services and its commitment to supporting the upstream industry with reliable and advanced technology.
