AMPO POYAM VALVES HAS SUPPLIED AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM TO ARCELOR MITTAL NIPPON STEEL INDIA’S IRON CONCENTRATE SLURRY PIPELINE PROJECT

AMPO POYAM VALVES has contributed to the Dabuna to Sagasahi Iron Concentrate Slurry Pipeline Project, a key infrastructure development in India, with the design, manufacturing and delivery of an ISS (Integrated Smart Solutions) system consisting of 2 Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) and 65 hydraulic and manual operated severe service ball valves, which were rated as highly critical equipment. These highly engineered ISS systems and valves will be installed in the iron ore slurry pipeline’s pump stations at both Dabuna and Sagasahi.
The pipeline connects Dabuna and Sagasahi, in Odisha, India, over a distance of 2 x 29 kilometers and consists of both slurry and return water pipelines. The system has been designed for a throughput of 6, 12, and 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) across different stages, with a plant capacity of 6 MTPA and a projected design life of 30 years.
This project is a collaboration between the end user ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AM/NS India) and Ausenco, a leading engineering firm in the mining industry. Their expertise, combined with AMPO’s highly engineered solutions and experience, has ensured the success of this demanding project in the mining industry.
The severe service ball valves supplied by AMPO POYAM VALVES were floating design, metal seated and zero leakage ball valves with a size range of up to 20” and 600 lbs, which were specifically engineered to meet the demanding requirements of iron ore slurry pipelines. AMPO’s zero-leakage valves stand out in the industry for their metal-seated design, a not common achievement in such demanding applications. AMPO’s R&D and innovation team played a pivotal role in designing the highly engineered valves and HPUs tailored for the slurry pipeline, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. But the project’s timeline included not only the supply of the valves and the HPUs, but also the supervision and commissioning services during the installation process of the integrated system in the field by AMPO engineers and technicians.
Iron ore projects demand unparalleled performance and reliability, and the Dabuna to Sagasahi slurry pipeline is no exception. AMPO’s valves and systems not only met but exceeded these requirements, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted partner for severe service applications. Additionally, AMPO POYAM VALVES will participate in the Performance Guarantee Test for the supplied systems, ensuring long-term reliability and efficiency.
AMPO POYAM VALVES was selected for this project due to its proven track record in providing severe service solutions for the mining industry. With extensive experience in similar projects globally, AMPO’s ability to integrate systems, including HPUs, and ensure seamless execution demonstrates its commitment to supporting critical industries with cutting-edge technologies, innovation, excellence and reliability.
