AMPO POYAM VALVES CONTRIBUTES TO ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST LNG PROJECTS WITH APPROXIMATELY 15,000 VALVES
AMPO POYAM VALVES is proud to contribute to one of the largest LNG export sites worldwide currently under construction: the Rio Grande LNG Project, located at the Port of Brownsville, Texas, USA, on approximately 1,000 acres.
Developed by NextDecade and being executed by Bechtel, the project represents a major milestone in the expansion of global liquefied natural gas infrastructure. Once completed, the facility will have a total liquefaction capacity of approximately 48 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) across eight LNG trains, making it one of the largest LNG export terminals under development globally.
As part of this strategic project, AMPO has been awarded several contracts for the supply of approximately 15,000 highly engineered valves for the first five LNG trains under construction, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner for critical LNG applications. The scope of supply includes a wide range of valve technologies specifically designed to meet the demanding operating conditions of LNG facilities: cryogenic ball, gate, globe and check valves and non-cryogenic ball, gate, globe and check valves up to 16” and 1500 lbs.
The project is progressing according to schedule, with most valves for Trains 1, 2 and 3 already delivered. The first valves for Train 4 are expected to be completed by mid-July 2026, while deliveries for Train 5 are scheduled to commence during the first quarter of 2027. In addition to manufacturing and supplying the valves, AMPO SERVICE has played an active role throughout the project, providing technical support and field services to ensure the successful execution of the installation phases.
The Rio Grande LNG project further strengthens AMPO’s footprint in the North American LNG market and highlights the company’s capability to successfully execute large-scale valve supply contracts for world-class energy infrastructure projects. Today, AMPO valves are installed in many of the leading LNG export terminals across the United States, reflecting the confidence that major operators and EPC contractors place in the company’s technology, reliability and manufacturing capabilities. Backed by its fully integrated manufacturing model and extensive expertise in cryogenic and severe-service applications, AMPO continues to support the development of reliable and low carbon energy solutions worldwide.
The project also reinforces AMPO’s position as a leading supplier of cryogenic and severe-service valves for the LNG industry. Through close collaboration with leading operators and EPC contractors, AMPO POYAM VALVES continues to deliver highly engineered valve solutions that meet the highest standards of performance, safety and reliability in some of the world’s most demanding energy applications.
