AMPO POYAM VALVES TO SUPPLY HIGH PRESSURE ON-OFF BALL VALVES FOR KARACHAGANAK FIELD IN KAZAKHSTAN

AMPO POYAM VALVES will supply 85 high pressure on-off ball valves for two key upgrade projects at the Karachaganak Field, operated by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO), in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The valves will be installed as part of the projects “Upgrade of Gas Seals of 8-360A/B/C Gas Re-Injection Compressors at Unit-2 and U3 DEG Overpressure Protection 2025TA” and “new Trunkline from RMS-S to U3”, both aimed at supporting the safe and reliable operation of critical gas handling systems within the facility.

Located near Aksai city, the Karachaganak Field is one of the largest gas and condensate fields in the world. In 2022, KPO produced more than 128 million barrels of oil equivalent, including both oil/condensate and natural gas, underlining the strategic importance of this asset in the region.

The AMPO POYAM VALVES solutions will be installed in Unit-2 (Reinjection Unit) at the Karachaganak Field and at Unit-3 (Condensate and Hydrocarbon Processing), where they will play a key role in critical gas service applications. The scope includes more than 85 manual and pneumatically actuated highly engineered on-off ball valves up to 10K and 10” designed to meet the demanding operating conditions of the project. The valves will be manufactured at AMPO Kazakhstan’s facilities in Atyrau, highlighting the company’s growing local manufacturing capabilities and its commitment to supporting strategic energy projects across the region. One of the main technical challenges of this application is the presence of a highly sour service environment, with approximately 5% H₂S and 5% CO₂ content. This makes material selection and valve reliability essential to ensure safe performance and long-term integrity under severe service conditions.
