Pennsylvania Chemicals project (Potter Township, Pennsylvania, US)
The petrochemical complex (now Shell Polymers Monaca) is a world-scale facility that produces 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene pellets per year to create everyday products from food packaging to industrial and utility products. It comprises an ethane cracker, three polyethylene units, a 275MW combined cycle cogeneration power plant, a water treatment facility, and large product storage with rail and truck loading capabilities.
Customers required during the construction of this megaproject the design, manufacturing and delivery of approximately 4,500 highly engineered valves while Bechtel was the Main Works Contractor for the construction, commissioning and startup of the facility.
AMPO POYAM VALVES produced and successfully delivered for this project approximately 4,500 highly engineered and special valves such as cryogenic ball valves and high temperature (550ºC) ball valves for high pressure ethylene units. Due to the commitment of AMPO POYAM VALVES in this project and other key projects with Bechtel during this period, AMPO POYAM VALVES was recognized in 2019 by Becthel as Top Supplier at the company’s annual Supply Chain Awards.
Companies were evaluated on multiple factors including: overall performance, ability to deliver quality services/supplies on time, ability to work collaboratively to meet milestones, and meeting or exceeding project expectations in aspects of safety, performance, technical expertise, and environmental compliance. Nominations were reviewed and approved by Bechtel procurement and project managers with final approval from senior leadership.
AMPO POYAM VALVES has been working hand in hand with Bechtel for more than 20 years, providing highly engineered valves for outstanding projects worldwide, such as: Pennsylvania Chemicals Project, Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project, Sabine Pass Licuefaction Project, Atlantic LNG, Australian LNG projects, Angola LNG, Jamnagar Refinery, Al Taweelah Alumina Refinery, etc.
